How to Spend a Day in Annapolis, Maryland

September 6, 2023 by Patti 2 Comments

Annapolis, Maryland, the state capital, is a lovely historic coastal city located on the Chesapeake Bay. As it happened, we needed to file a few documents with the Secretary of State. Rather than mail the documents, we decided to make a day of it in Annapolis. Stay tuned because we have a story to tell about those documents, and it will be a good one.

DC: Tour The Potomac River & Hop On/Off

August 20, 2023 by Patti 2 Comments

The Potomac River. First time visiting Washington, DC? Or, maybe you’re returning for a second, third or even fourth visit. Either way, there’s always something new to experience when visiting the city. I’ve said more than once a visitor could easily spend a month in Washington, DC and still not experience everything.

How to Spend 7 Days in North Conway, NH

July 13, 2023 by Patti 6 Comments

North Conway, NH. Traveling by car, #roadtrip, is probably our most favorite way to travel, with train travel coming in for a close second. When driving long distances we set GPS to avoid toll roads. While avoiding tolls definitely saves us a fair amount of money, it’s more about traveling the backroads. Sure, it may take us a bit longer, but inevitably we enjoy the drive and we usually come across a few road wonders, such as this amazing steel truss bridge.

Women Hiking the Appalachian Trail

April 22, 2023 by Patti 3 Comments

Women Hiking the Appalachian Trail. What exactly is the AT? And, where is it? Basically, it’s a 2,200 +/- mile trail that traverses the Appalachian region of the United States. Hikers, who thru-hike the trail, begin their journey in Mountain Springs, Georgia and finish at Mt. Katahdin in Maine, having hiked through 14 states.

For those thru-hikers who complete the PCT, the CDT and the AT, from terminus to terminus, they can proudly hold the title of a Triple Crowner. Although what exactly that entails I have no idea. Bragging rights?

Mediterranean Luxury Wellness Cruise

April 11, 2023 by Patti No Comments

Luxury wellness cruise. The Mediterranean is one of the top destinations for retirees who love to travel. Travel and Leisure even point out that many retirees spend their twilight years overseas. Especially in European destinations where the weather, ambiance, culture, and environment are more pleasing. In fact, many Americans are retiring in places like Algarve, Portugal, and Alicante, Spain. There they can indulge in healthy meals, swim on exquisite beaches, and go to various historical institutions.

However, you don’t need to retire in these places to experience the relaxing atmosphere of the Mediterranean. You can still explore Mediterranean destinations and revitalize yourself by boarding a luxury wellness cruise.

Our Best Learned Road Trip Travel Tips

April 10, 2023 by Patti 2 Comments

Road Trip Travel Tips. Are you making plans and gearing up for a summer road trip? Or, for that matter, any other time of the year? Truth be told, road trips are by far my most favorite way to travel, followed by train travel which runs a close second. There’s just something really special about a road trip and the flexibility traveling by car offers.

“Roads were made for journeys, not destinations.” Confucious

Prince Edward Island Shorts – One Last Look

March 6, 2023 by Patti 8 Comments

Prince Edward Island. I just finished uploading a series of Prince Edward Island short videos, #shorts, to our Youtube Channel. Doing so led me to think about the island and the incredible landscapes and stories that presented themselves while we explored. For us, it was probably a once-in-a-lifetime adventure, although we’d certainly be open to the idea of a return visit. But, it’s a really (really) long drive, albeit adventurous.

Reminiscing through our photos led me to the idea of taking one last look at some of the spectacular landscapes we experienced while on PEI. Many of them did not make it to our earlier stories written just after returning from our travels.

Picture Perfect Lunenburg, Nova Scotia

January 20, 2023 by Patti 8 Comments
Lunenburg

Lunenburg, Nova Scotia. It truly is picture perfect. So much so that Old Town Lunenburg is an UNESCO World Heritage Site. How many charming seaside fishing villages can make that claim? It was just five months ago, after spending 10 days on Prince Edward Island, Canada, that we made our way to Lunenburg. Little did we know we’d be mesmerized.

I’m Dreaming of a White Christmas

December 18, 2022 by Patti 4 Comments
Brandywine Valley

I’ve been dreaming of a White Christmas for 8 1/2 years, ever since we moved east. One would think living on the east coast of the US, it would be a given to see a blanket of white on Christmas morning, but alas… it has yet to happen. We’ve come close, maybe a few days before or after, but never on the actual holiday. Maybe this year?
